Apparently if you want to have a long, happy life with someone, you’re supposed to make an engagement chicken. Well, I didn’t do that. In fact, one of the very first meals I cooked for my now husband was a brisket (over 10 years ago at this point!). I’m not sure what inspired me to cook him a meal full of fatty goodness, I must have really liked him. I also don’t know why I chose to make a Brisket… It seemed right at the time.
Anywhooo… I’m sharing with you the meal that started it all – my easy, tender brisket recipe. It also doesn’t require a slow cooker or any other tool other than a 9-inch, high-sided pan and lid. Win!
In college I wasn’t as adept at cooking as I am now, so I originally used a packet of onion soup mix as seasoning. Today, all the fillers and preservatives give me an instant headache, so I decided to create my own seasoning that tastes exactly like the real thing!
This brisket is:
- Tender
- Savory
- Easy to make
- Low histamine recipe
- Great for a party
- Easy to clean up
- Boyfriend approved
